Belif The True Cream – Aqua Bomb

Leslie here, bringing you my thoughts on the high rated, and often favorited, belif The True Cream Aqua Bomb. This moisturizer is set out to be the BEST thing ever for oily skin. So how does my picky self like it? Well let’s see!

The Product

belif The True Cream Aqua Bomb, available at Sephora, $38 for 1.68 oz of product. A fairly decent price for a moisturizer from Sephora.

This is the gel-cream version of their Moisturizing Bomb, and more suitable for oily and combination skin.

The Claims

The main claim of this product is just increased hydration. Hydration suited for oily skin, hydration that will not increase oil production. There are however a few ingredients that they claim will help with pore size and skin texture, such as Lady’s Mantle. This herb helps soften the skin with its natural properties to remove dry, scaly, and flaky skin, while controlling excess sebum, resulting in tighter pores and less oily shine.

This brand (a Korean brand) also throws around the word Napiers a lot – like “Napiers original formula”. They are referring to the herbalist Duncan Napier. All of their products are marked with the official certification mark form the Scotish Napiers, that is only given to products that use the Napiers formula. Not sure what all this means to me, but it sounds suuuuuper official.

The Application

*side note, just real quick. The lid of this looks like a little effing top hat and it’s so cute I can’t even.

This gel-cream is very lightweight. It smooths over the skin easily. But I didn’t feel like it really ever soaked in. I felt like it was sitting on top (albeit light), and EVERYthing else I used would just ball it all up. I did not find that it gave me enough hydration as a night cream, and did not like it for the day due to it never really sinking in.

It has a scent- a fresh and natural one. But I don’t like it. PERSONALLY. It doesn’t really smell ‘herbal’, even though this is packed with herbal tinctures and such. It’s also blue- but not due to any added dyes. So I’m not really sure where that comes from. And ALCOHOL is the fifth ingredient listed.

The Verdict

I was looking for a product to give me lightweight hydration. And although the claims, and reviews, on this product pave the way to be my solution – it was not. I did not feel any boost of hydration, and the product did not play nice with other products. This product is also packed with a ton of silicones and alcohol. Things I don’t love for muh face.

I will continue to search for that skin plumping hydration my oily skin needs!

  1. I was also really disappointed by this product! I love gel moisturizers as I have combo/oily skin, and had heard so many good things about this one. I bought the non-gel one at first by mistake, and quickly exchanged it for the right one. I don’t consider myself to have sensitive skin, but this moisturizer immediately made my face red and blotchy. And I also couldn’t stand the scent of it!
