LIQUID. GLITTER.
Leslie here with a review of glitter. Why my 31 year old self thought glitter was what I needed is beyond me. But this seemed like the most amazing glitter option for those that hate the mess of glitter!
Youtube and Instagram really seem to love these things, so let’s see what Les thinks!
The Product
Stila Magnificent Metals Glitter & Glow Liquid Eye Shadow, available for $24 from both Ulta and Sephora.
Packaged in a cute lil chunky square tube with a doe foot applicator. I picked up the shade Kitten Karma.
The Claims
Magnificent Metals Glitter & Glow Liquid Eyeshadow is a long-wearing, sparkle eyeshadow with the perfect blend of pearl and glitter to leave your eyes with incredible luster and shimmer. With its uniquely lightweight, water-infused texture, it glides on effortlessly, then dries down smoothly, locking in maximum sparkle with minimal fallout for elevated eye looks.
‘Minimal’ fallout.
The Application & Wear
First of all- these things swatch BEAUTIFULLY. I think that’s how I was suckered in. It really is a great mix of pearl and glitter, and its just so stinkin purty. And don’t even get me started on those new Duochrome, Mermaidy shades.
But those are hand swatches.
On the eyes, even trying to blend out or pat in in anyway will make any pigment completely vanish. The pearliness is pretty much blended away. And once the product actually dries all the way down, the glitter SEPARATES from the rest of the product and there is much more than ‘minimal’ fallout. The whole point of this product (for me) was to paint liquid glitter on, and it stay all day without getting messy.
Well this was not pigmented once blended out, and glitter was EVERYWHERE after only 15 minutes.
I will sidebar and say I did not use a glitter glue of any kind. This may affect how it applies and wears, but listen. That is an extra step, and one reason I don’t do glitter in the first place. Why can’t glitter glue be INFUSED?! WHY CAN’T THEY MAKE GLITTER GLUE THAT HAS GLITTER IN IT?
The Verdict
Mayyyybe on the inner corner, mayyyybe applied precisely and with a glitter glue. Maybe if I didn’t have hooded eyes? who knows. But I wanted beautiful pearly shimmery goodness on my lid, that was pigmented and stayed where I put it.
Sadly, this was not that product for me.

The hand swatches look so stunning! Such a shame it didn’t work out.

Ugh. I have the same hooded eyes. What is this an English trait? 😦 It makes eye looks much less fun. I’ve almost bought these several times. I’ll likely end up passing.

haha, I’ve never researched the trait! it sure is cumbersome to work around though. Maybe with some type of glitter glue it would stay more in place but…that is already more work than i want for a product lol
