Helllerrrrr, Leslie here!! And I am ready to tell you my thoughts on the NEW Paula’s Choice RESIST Anti-Aging Serum Foundation. I LOVE Paula’s Choice, I LOVE serum foundations, and I LOVE the claims. So does she come through with this one?? Let’s get into it.
Paula’s Choice RESIST Anti-Aging Serum Foundation – Matte. 1 oz for $35, available in 8 shades.
The overall shade range is pretty disappointing, the deepest shade is labeled as a ‘medium’. I picked mine up in Level 3 to jive with my pink undertone, but it comes off kind of orangey on my skin. Sorry for the blurry swatch photo- SPOILER ALERT- I don’t have this anymore to take a better swatch photo for you guys.
Comes in a sturdy glass bottle with pump; very simple but keeps the product protected and hygienic.
- Anti-Aging, Wrinkles
- For All Skin Types
- Highly pigmented formula diffuses imperfections
- Antioxidants & ceramides provide anti-aging benefits
- Soft-focus matte finish
- Medium, buildable coverage
As always with Paula’s Choice, there is a noted reason for the inclusion of every ingredient, and the products are always fragrance free.
This product, surprisingly, does not contain SPF.
I tried this a few different ways- beauty sponge, brush, fingers; alone, over primer, mixed with. And I could NOT get it to work. It does not blend out well alone or over other products, even layered with other Paula’s Choice things. It dries down really fast, which makes it super patchy. And it seemed almost cakey in some parts. And while definitely mattifying, it unfortunately enhanced my pores instead of smoothing them. It seems it would be too drying for anyone with normal to dry skin, and would enhance any skin texture or wrinkles.
There is literally nothing I could get this to play nice with.
Coverage was a solid medium – I could still see freckles, but redness was evened out.
Already feeling like my face looked like garbage on the days I was testing it (due to not blending well, enhanced pores, and patchiness)- this sucker oxidized. I got pretty orange pretty quick. The product stayed pretty matte- but because it is such a mattifying product, it seemed to get cakier and more makeupy throughout the day.
The awful finish this gives just really makes the wear unbearable. I literally drove to Ulta on my lunch break, bought face wipes and WIPED IT ALL OFF. I have never in my life wiped off my foundation in the middle of a work day. That is how much I did not like it.
I wanted this to be my holy grail SO BADLY. It is from one of my favorite skincare brands, and it is a matte serum foundation with loads of skincare benefits (which I can’t even confirm or deny because it has not been on my skin long enough to tell).
But this might be one of the worst foundations I have ever tried.
