Derma E : Purify & Deep Detox + GLAMGLOW dupe?!

Hey guys, Leslie here!

I was able to partner with BrandBacker again for another opportunity to review some products for you guys! This time Derma E graciously sent me some items from the Purifying line- I haven’t tried anything from this line yet so I was super pumped!

Their new packaging is beautiful!

Derma E sent me the cutest lil package containing their Purifying 2-in-1 Charcoal Mask and Purifying Daily Detox Scrub. Which I immediately used that day to wind down for the night! Let’s look at each one- scrub first!

The Product:

Derma E Purifying Daily Detox Scrub, $15.50 for 4 oz of product.

already on the counter with the usual suspects…

The Claims / Ingredients:

Gentle enough for daily use, this scrub helps to remove all that extra crap on your face from the day – makeup, sweat, pollutants in the air. It is ideal for oily, active, or urban skin types and says it is safe for sensitive skin! This will leave your skin purely glowing and smooth.

It has some key ingredients with super fun names too:

  • Kimarine® Wakame – a potassium-rich, magnesium-rich seaweed that is clinically proven to protect skin against environmental pollutants
  • Bladderwrack – an antioxidant-rich, mineral-rich seaweed known for its water-binding properties, supporting healthy skin hydration and nourishment
  • Activated Charcoal – known for absorbing 100 to 200 times its weight in impurities, helps remove toxins from the skin’s surface
  • Apricot Seed Powder – a physical exfoliant
  • Green Tea – potent antioxidant defense

This product is 100% vegan, cruelty-free, paraben-free, sulfate-free, mineral oil-free, lanolin-free, gluten free, GMO-free. 🙌🏼 🙌🏼

Application / Use:

To be honest, I was a little scared to try this scrub out. I have really sensitive skin that typically does not do well with intense physical exfoliants. But this is SO gentle! It is much smoother than your typical ‘apricot face scrub’ – you know the one. After rinsing off, my face not only felt super smooth, but it was not dried out in anyway. There are no irritated areas, no redness. It actually felt like it moisturized it too! And because this contains menthol, it was so cooling and refreshing! It’s great for the evening to rid your face of the days impurities, but this in the AM is going to be a game changer.

The Product:

Derma E Purifying 2-in-1 Charcoal Mask, $19.50 for 1.7 oz of product.

I don’t know why I think this little tube is so cute.

The Claims / Ingredients:

This is a 2-in-1 product, as the name suggests, that is meant to be applied as a mask to dry and then massaged in to deeply exfoliate before rinsing off. The mask contains some of the same as the scrub (Kimarine® Wakame, Bladerwrack and Activated Charcoal) which all help to lift out gunk from pores and decongest as the mask dries. It also contains Kaolin and Bentonite Clays – great mask ingredients for those with oily skin as it help to absorb excess oil. Apricot Seed Powder will be there to help you exfoliate and polish it all away as you rinse.

Application / Use:

The texture of this product reminded me SO much of GlamGlow’s YouthMud Tinglexfoliate Treatment. Is this a dupe?!

To be fair- I am not the biggest fan of the Youthmud Treatment; there are others in the line that are so much better for my particular skin. So when I first felt this going on I was like “Oh no!”- because I thought it would be the same. And by being the same that would mean INTENSE burning sensation, extremely grainy exfoliants, have to wash off after a couple minutes on, and all red and splotchy after. But no! None of those things happened with the Derma E mask!

Ingredients aside, because they are pretty different in that aspect (Glamglow contains fragrance…), I feel like the Derma E is just as effective as the Youthmud, without being so dang irritating to my skin. The mask dried down pretty quickly, and then I was able to go in with wet hands to exfoliate. The exfoliants are a little more grainy than the gentle every day scrub, but this is for those tough jobs, those once or twice a week-ers. So I definitely prefer it to the $70 option!

I have been incorporating this in my multi-masking routines, targeting those areas that really need it. It’s great for that week out of the month when you’re extra oily and congested! 😉

The Verdict:

The purifying line works so well to really deep clean your pores and refresh your face- but is super gentle! And I love that they use natural and cruelty free ingredients. I think I might scoop up some other things from this line- they have a pretty enticing Purifying Oil Free Moisturizer AND Youth Serum. Sound right up my alley!

Pro-tip: you will likely be able to find a lot of their stuff in old packaging on clearance right now at places like Target and Ulta. The new packaging is super sleek, but the same product on clearance? Yes please!

Have you guys tried anything from Derma E? What’s your fave?!
