For some reason unknown to me, I thought that the new foundation tint from Neutrogena was something I just NEEDED to try. Although I have oily skin, the Hydrating Tint spoke to me for some reason. So I gave it a whirl and I’m gonna tell you alllll about it!
The Product:
Neutrogena Hydro Boost Hydrating Tint, $14.99 for 1 oz. This ‘foundation’ comes in 10 shades.
There were not many options out the day I decided I just HAD to have it- I picked up the shade Nude, which actually seems like it would be darker based on online swatches. But it still seems kind of light for there to be three lighter options in the line.

The Claims:
A weightless, water gel skin tint infused with hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is a fantastic hydrator for all skin types- it essentially helps your skin retain moisture. It plumps the skin, helping to smooth out fine lines as it moisturizes (you know I love something with skin care benefits!)

Application & Wear:
This packaging is in the form of one of those huge wands- think Tarte Shape Tape or Clinique Beyond Perfecting.
However…whatever is happening at the opening really scrapes all the product off the wand really well. Which means I had to dip back in that thing at least 5 times to get enough product on my face.
The coverage…was so-so. I mean it is a tint, so I was not expecting much in that department. I’ve been really enjoying sheer coverage base products lately- so that was ok! It blended nicely with both a brush and a sponge, but you definitely lose coverage with a sponge. And it wasn’t very buildable- it didn’t get cakey or anything, you just couldn’t get anymore coverage with more product, ya know?
It was very weightless as promised, and it did not settle into pores or fine lines. It made my skin look very natural and healthy!
Yeah, but how did it wear?? I have my face on most days for at LEAST 10 hours. And this product definitely started to fade away after about 5. And I got EXTREMELY oily. I don’t know what I was expecting, but it was shine central. All over. And because it wasn’t transfer proof- every blot would take away what sheer coverage was there.
The Verdict:
I really wanted to like this one. I wanted to have beautiful, natural, healthy, plump skin. But I guess I’m too naturally oily for this product? I do love that there are skin care benefits, so it might be great for a quick run to the store, or a day you aren’t intending on wearing it for long hours. But because the coverage is so sheer, you could easily just use an HA serum and call it a day. It would be great under the eyes as a hydrating tint- but again, won’t be covering any dark circles.
Has anyone else tried this? I’ve seen a few reviews from people that LOVE it, even comparing it to La Mer ($$$)- so what are your thoughts??
