Leslie here, and SO IS FALL!!
On an unrelated note-I tried five new (to me) face masks in the past few weeks, and I wanted to share them with you!
I have my daily skincare routine, but every few days I throw a mask in the mix! Masks are a great way to target special concerns, give your skin some extra pampering, or just plain ol’ relax!
Sephora, $26 for 1.7ozPremium Blackhead O2 Bubble Pore Pack,
Sephora, $48 for 1.7ozWhipped Mud Mask Argan Hydrating and Detoxifying Treatment,
Sephora, $80 for 2ozChloro Plasma (this is the travel size marked down to $8.60 from $20!),
Algenist Firming & Lifting Intensive Mask, Ulta, $55 for 2.7oz
nügg Intense Lip Boosting Mask, Target, $8.99 for .24oz
What they do tho??
The Caolion Blackhead Bubble Pore Pack contains 100% natural sparkling water and charcoal powder that bubble up to deeply penetrate the pores, removing impurities and excess sebum. It also contains oat grains to gently exfoliate.
Using the included spatula, apply a generous amount to the face. As soon as you get it all on, it starts bubbling! There is no stinging, but you can definitely feel (and hear) the bubbles. The more you apply, the more it will bubble up.
After 5-10 minutes, you massage the mask around and the graininess helps to exfoliate. Then rinse off! My face was left so smooth, and felt so clean, but wasn’t tight in anyway like most ‘pore targeters’ do. It felt moisturized and I couldn’t stop touching it! This was my favorite of the bunch for sure!
The Josie Maran Whipped Mud Mask is supposed to nourish, clarify, firm, and refine skin. Its unscented, but we all know there is still a scent to things. It smells natural, for sure. But not in a good way.

The mask was very moisturizing, and does have gentle exfoliation. My face was not tight after using- which I guess also means it didn’t feel firm? I don’t know- I mean, the packaging is very luxurious and heavy, but this mask didn’t do anything special for me. PERSONALLY.
I scored a hell of a deal on this wittle baby jar- I’ve been wanting to try this mask for so long! The Perricone MD Chloro Plasma is an anti-aging mask that addresses loss of radiance, dull and fatigued skin, enlarged pores, fine lines, and rough skin texture. Sign me up!
It’s white in the jar, but once you start massaging it in, the ‘microcapsules’ burst and it turns green! You are supposed to massage in until it turns a deep green- but mine never got any darker than this. Maybe I need to massage longer? After one use, I’m not sure if I can see any difference in the skin. Maybe its an effect over time. But the massaging in and the non-offensive scent makes it perfect for those de-stress hours when you just a need a minute, a mask, and a glass of wine. Would I spend $80 for that? yeah.. prolly not.
The Algenist Firming & Lifting Intensive mask was actually a GWP from an Ulta.com order. That whole thing fo free! So pretty stoked on it already. It “appears to restore elasticity, structure and suppleness of the skin. The powerful formulation visibly reduces the appearance of aging and gravity on the skin.” I really like to use this in the mornings, because you don’t have to leave it on for very long. After cleansing, I let this clear, gel-like mask sit on for about 5 minutes, rinse off, and continue on with my routine and makeup. It really helps to tone things up in preparation!
It is a little steep in price, but you get so much product and I really like it as part of my AM routine. So I would probably repurchase this!
Last- is a lip mask! I’ve seen the little pods of nügg at Target, but had never purchased one because $5-something for a onetime use mask was just absurd to me. However- the Intense Lip Boosting Mask has approximately 30 uses for $9, so I wanted to try it out! And how cute is that lil gold orb?
This mask needs to be left on for 20 minutes. You don’t realize how much you use your mouth until your lips are covered in schmutz! It also stung a wee bit at first, but my lips tend to be dry and peeling at all times. It WAS moisturizing, but I would recommend doing a lip scrub first- then applying the mask. I wish this mask had some scrubbie action too- but it’s acceptable for nine dollars!
Try to incorporate masks into your routine! Pick a couple days a week to TREAT YOSELF. I like to do a ‘Face Mask Friday’ to decompress from the week and detoxify my skin. But you could make any day yours! Mask Monday..Treat Yo Self Tuesday..
And sheet masks?! Well that’s a whole different ball game! Would you guys like to see a post trying out sheet masks? Let me know! (but I’ll probably do it anyway…)
