Leslie here, and it’s Friday! I don’t know about you, but I am so glad this week is over.
I use eye shadow palettes almost every time I do my makeup. I rarely use single shadows, or even give them the time of day- because I know I won’t reach for them! I try really hard to not buy any new palettes, but I just can’t help it sometimes. (Like when Urban Decay releases an all new, all matte Naked Ultimate Basics that I will def be purchasing..)
Keep reading for my five favorite eye shadow palettes!
Let’s just go ahead and get this dreamy fall masterpiece out of the way. I talked about it in my May Favorites, and it is still very well loved! This kind of took the place of another VERY good warm toned eye shadow palette, the Morphe 35O. But this one wins by just a nudge because of the range of shades, shimmers, and mattes. After planning this post, I started to venture back to my 35O and fell back in love with it, but I still need to finish the look off with something from the Holy Grail palette. It just has everything!
One of my favorite shades in the palette is Crystal- it is an icy, shimmery white with pink tones and NO glitter. It makes the most beautiful wash of shimmer for highlighting the lid or inner corner. Of course I didn’t swatch it for you, because I’m just super like that. But below are swatches of Cool Beans, Awesome Sauce, Bat My Eyes, & On Fleek. All of these shadows are so velvety and pigmented.
This palette is $42 and is currently sold out, but it should be restocked soon!
This palette is so great for just everyday, no fuss, beautiful blended shadow. It has a ton of great options for crease, highlight and liner – and some of the shades can be used in other areas of the face for contour, highlight, or even brows! When I’m traveling, I tend to bring this one with me because it has pretty much everything I’d need. They are all matte too, which sings to my soul!
This palette retails for $46
This was my first high end eye shadow palette! Aww…memories…
Anyway- Urban Decay shadows are some of my favorites. They are pigmented, creamy, and last the longest on my oily lids. And the color range in this palette is perfect for my skin tone and eyes. It is always flattering when I whip it out, and will forever be a favorite!
It’s also the eye shadow I used on my wedding day….aw, more memories!
Below are swatches of some of my favorites in the palette: Strange, Limit, Nooner, Factory, & Liar. Them matte shades though!!
This palette retails for $54, the standard for Naked palettes.
Urban Decay Gwen Stefani Eye Shadow Palette
Like I said, UD shadows are some of my favorite, and this is another UD palette that I don’t know how I lived without before. I really failed you on this one, and didn’t do any swatches- BUT, it seems to no longer be available so I guess you don’t need ’em? 🙂
This palette has such a great range of neutrals and pops of color. Another great one for travel!
This is probably one of the most underrated palettes I’ve seen. The packaging doesn’t scream SWATCH ME. But these shadows, you guys… They are so pigmented, buttery, and long lasting. And all matte! There is a shimmery, “Transforming Pearl” that is meant to lay on top of other shadows, but its kind of a bleh shade for me. Everything else in this palette, though, is top freaking notch!
It has all the cool and warm tones you need! Above are swatches of my most used: Warmth, Sunrise, Sunset, & Java. I was totally blown away by the quality of these shadows- so don’t be discouraged by the ‘less than hip’ branding or packing of this line of cosmetics. This palette retails for $42.
So those are my most loved eye shadow palettes. I realize now they are all high end- oops! Eye shadows are the one category I’m kind of a snob about. With my oily, hooded lids, I typically reach for high end.
What budget friendly or drugstore palettes are worth my time?? I’ve always wanted to try Makeup Geek and ColourPop!
